Atlantic Beach, NC

We had fantastic week in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina for our Zinser family vacation! Emma loved her first trip to the beach and loved playing in the pool with her cousins James and Hailey. She played in the sand and never once put sand in her mouth - which I swore she would do. John played a couple rounds of golf, while the rest of us relaxed. Grandma and Grandpa had a blast with the kids, and Kim and Jim celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary on the trip.

Update (delayed)...Emma had her tubes placed June 18th and did great! She was back to herself by that afternoon!

Daddy's Little Girl!

Emma (with help from her school teachers) made John a Father's Day hat that was too cute! What a proud father! We were blessed to be able to celebrate the weekend with both of our fathers. Today we lounged in the back yard poolside, while Daddy and Grandpa W golfed. Emma loves the water!

A weekend of Firsts!

Emma's first swing in the neighborhood park!We also headed to the pool - for Emma's first swim. She liked to kick and splash water with her hands! She looked so cute with her new suit!

John, being the electronic guru, purchased a new "professional" camera. I have to admit, it takes pretty nice pictures. This is one of my favorite pics so far! Maybe he'll have the art of photography mastered by her wedding day! Who knows what a photographer will cost at that time?? ha ha!

Carrots!

Since our last post, Emma has been plagued with another ear infection. This one took 4 antibiotics before she turned the corner. Due to her wonderful anatomy (inherited by moi), we are now being referred to an ENT for possible tubes.

Emma started feeling better just in time to head to Cincinnati to visit with family and friends for Memorial Day weekend. Saturday night, Emily hosted a mini-Milford reunion. Emma was able to play with "blog" friends Hailey and Kole. We had a tasty grill out at my parents house on Sunday.
Today Emma had her first taste of carrots. We were supposed to start a couple weeks ago, but with her not feeling well - I'm sure carrots would be the last thing she would want! She did great and couldn't get enough!

What a wonderful week!

On Tuesday we celebrated Emma's Half Birthday! Its hard to believe that she is already 6 months! Emma enjoyed playing with balloons and we enjoyed some cake. Emma went to the doctor and she weighs 20lbs 5 oz (97%tile) and is 26inches long (50%tile). We will be starting vegetables soon. Friday Emma said "dada" for the first time! Laura and Luke were here to witness the big event! Here is a video of her talking - this was taken while she was falling asleep when she loves to chat - sorry no picture - but the sound speaks for itself! As if she isn't daddy's little girl already?

Saturday we celebrated Grandma and Grandpa Weatherwax's 60th wedding anniversary with a surprise party! It was a great evening with family. Being married for 60 years is truly remarkable and an inspiration to us!

Although today was the 100th anniversary of Mother's Day, today was my first! Emma has blessed my life daily, and her smile or laugh makes me feel that every day is Mother's Day. Whether its my Mother/Mother-in-law/Sister/friends and family - I have been inspired by many mothers and mothers-to-be in my life and I thank you for your impact on my life as a mother! Today we also celebrated Andrea's graduation from law school! Being a pharmacist and now a lawyer - She never ceases to amaze me!

Indy or Bust!!

The Weatherwax clan piled into the car and headed to Aunt Bec's house Friday after work. Our alarm clocks went off at an early 5am on Saturday and Mom W and I prepared for our big race! We couldn't have asked for better weather and it was amazing being amongst 35,000+ people for the largest half-marathon in the United States. The course was fun - especially running around the Indy Speedway. One of the best shirts I read was "13.1 miles - the distance a new mom will go for some alone time!" Emma was a trooper and enjoyed the people watching - she is definitely my child! I must thank John for being so supportive of me training for this event. The duration of the weekend was spent shopping, eating, and spending time with the family! Aunt Bec is a wonderful hostess! Emma is finishing up another course of antibiotics for yet another ear infection (#3). She got the dreaded "daycare cough" or the DCC as we call it in our household, and within a day or so it landed in the ears! Darn eustachian tubes!!!
