Easter 2016

We arrived home from Spring Break on Easter Morning and then bunny left some goodies for the kids!
It was a Converse and PJs themed basket this year.  The kids had an Easter egg hunt.
We headed to the Weatherwax's for Easter dinner and the great search for the 'Golden Egg.'  Grandma Weatherwax has a golden egg and there is money inside.  Kate was the winner in 2015.
 And....a repeat winner in 2016!
Within seconds of Kate's victory, Emma's excitement turned to tears...
And Sage stomped up the stairs and cried.

Man - the change in emotions was amazing in only a matter of seconds!

We celebrated Easter with the Zinser's a couple weeks later.  Grandma Weatherwax gave Grandma Zinser a golden egg too - Emma was the inagural winner at the Zinser Easter celebration.  No tears shed this time as I had the "there is only one winner" talk and "if you don't win this year, maybe next year will be your year."

Spring Break 2015 - Ft. Myers

Laura and I met our freshman year at ONU at Founders Hall and we've been great friends ever since.  When we found out that we had the same Spring Break - we thought it would be great to vacation together.  We had a wonderful trip to Ft. Myers with the Spicer family.  The kids had a blast together and because they were entertained by each other, it was fun for the adults too!
The mermaid tails were quite popular at the pool.
Luke taught Sage all about boats on this trip.
Our famous pool pic with our kiddos.
Laura's family has a boat in Ft. Myers.  We had never experienced a beach vacation with a boat.  It was amazing and fun.  With all of the traffic (to the beach, to Sanibel and Captiva), it was so nice to bypass that and get a great suntan while traveling! I think this picture is adorable of their backsides looking for dolphins!
There were tons of shells and the kids enjoyed collecting shells.
Jim always enjoys teaching the kids how to drive the boat.  They feel so special when they get to drive.
The white noise and wind helped Sage take a nice nap on the boat.
The kids had a wonderful week together.
The whole group!
I was dreading the car ride home (17 hours) but we survived and had fun!

Emma - Leader of the Month!

Deer Run Elementary participates in the Leader in Me program. Emma was chosen as the March Leader of the Month!  We were able to be at the school assembly to surprise her!
We are so proud of Emma!
We also had the school Art Show that week and here is Emma with her bird house picture.

Sage - a future hockey player?

Sage loves hockey - especially the Blue Jackets this season.
Here he is posing with the famous cannon.
John took one of his old hockey sticks and sawed it down for Sage to use.  He got this fabulous mask at the OSU hockey game.  He is constantly asking to go outside and play hockey.

Snow and Valentine's Day!

We had very little snow this winter. Emma and Kate are bummed because they didn't have any snow days.  We took advantage of getting outside a weekend in February with some friends.
We finally got smart and started buying Emma black snow pants so Sage will not have to wear pink!  Luckily it doesn't bother him!  Real boys wear pink right?!  Ha!

The kids worked hard outside with Dominique to build a family of snowmen!

Happy Valentine's Day 2016 (you have to love the selfie stick pictures)!

Indian Princess - Winter Events

The girls and John headed to their winter camp-in in January. They went ice skating, swimming at the hotel and tobogganing in the morning.  The men have developed wonderful friendships as have the girls.

Yesterday, the girls went to the Willy Wonka themed Father Daughter Dance.
The girls got their hair done at Sweet&Sassy with their friends.
 Love this pic.

Like father, Like Son...

As you know, John is a lover of lawn care and snow removal.  In fact, his dream as a child was to own a lawn service.  Sage has definitely followed in his father's footsteps.  From cutting grass in the summer to shoveling snow in the winter, he loves to be outside.
So one Saturday morning in January, Sage, Kate and John jumped out of bed and were out of the house by 8:15am.  Little did we know that John had a plan to build a plow for Sage's John Deere tractor.
Look how excited he is!
Any opportunity to get outside, is a blast (even 1/2 inch).
Sage looks so fierce with his hockey mask!
(John, Tom and Sage went to the OSU hockey game while we went to The Sound of Music)
