NYC wrap-up

On Friday we took a tour of the city with our own private tour guide.  We visited St. James' Cathedral which is the largest cathedral in the nation. We went to see Ulysses S. Grant's tomb.

We saw the National 9/11 Memorial which was beautiful.
We took a boat trip down the Hudson River where we saw the Statue of Liberty.
Emma took a seat in the judges seat from The Voice at NBC Studios giftshop.
The kiddos outside of Rockefeller Center.
We missed the taping of the Today show so we headed over to the Fox and Friends taping!
And one last selfie from Times Square!
Thank you Mom and Dad Zinser for a wonderful and memorable Thanksgiving.
We have so much and more to be thankful for!

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Mom and Dad headed right outside our hotel around 5am to secure our spot with a tarp and some chairs.  John and Jim headed down around 6:30 to give my parents a breakfast break.  Unfortunately, around 8am some police officers told them they needed to move as they were under the hotel overhang.  The rest of us arrived shortly thereafter - but have no fear we had power in number and we made our way back up to front row viewing!
Hailey Boo and James with Diaries of a Wimpy Kid balloon.
Here is the NYPD marching band.
Given the recent events in Paris, security definitely was on high alert. There were numerous police officers/security around and we felt very safe.
We love the Elf on the Shelf - but this is a good pic to show just how massive these balloons are in person.
Sage and Papa posing in front of the grand finale - Santa Claus!
It was definitely amazing to say that we have seen the parade in person.  It's probably not something that we need to do every year or in the next 10 years but might be something that John and I can take our grandchildren to in the future.
Mmmmm....some hot NY style pizza tasted good after the parade!
We went to Central Park and because of the beautiful weather - almost 60 degrees, everyone was out an about.
I had to share this adorable pic that Aunt Kim captured at Central Park.
And the kiddos enjoyed their first subway ride in NYC, well 4 out of 5 of them did.
Unfortunately, on the way home Miss Kate got sick while sitting on my lap, ugh.
So Kate and I enjoyed a quiet night in our hotel room for Thanksgiving by doing laundry and watching a movie.

Thanksgiving 2015 - The Zinser's take NYC!

My Dad has always talked about heading to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2015, well shortly after his retirement last year we started making plans.
We arrived safely on Wednesday and we took a stroll down to see the iconic Macy's store front windows which were all decked out with holiday adventures of the Peanuts crew.
Kim and I stepped out quickly on 34th Street to get our picture at the performance spot at Harold Square.

We had a tasty dinner at Guy Fieri's Restaurant where my hubby had an ooey-gooey mac n' cheese burger.  Then we headed to see the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.  After seeing all of these landmarks on TV, it was so fun to see in person.
The show was fun and we all received Santa hats!

Happy 8th Birthday Emma!

My little girl turned 8 on November 6th!  Its hard to believe how quickly she is growing up.
This year Emma asked for a chocolate cake with white icing (first time she has asked for a cake on her birthday).   Well the chocolate cake wasn't "chocolatey" enough for her, oh well!
Emma is playing for Ohio Premier this year and her birthday weekend was full of sporting events - 4 soccer games and 1 basketball game.  Fortunately, we celebrated with our family on Friday night with the Weatherwax's and Sunday with the Zinsers/Nichols.
Instead of a large party, Emma asked for her best friends Reagan and Ella to come over to spend the night (it might have been suggested by me, #NoEnergyForPinterestParty.  We headed to the OSU women's soccer game for starters and they were very excited to see Cardale Jones
Instead of a large party, Emma asked for her best friends Reagan and Ella to come over to spend the night.  The girls "toasted" their friendship with some sparkling apple cider!
BFF bracelets!
