Kate Goes to the Dentist!

Kate went to see Dr. Bob for the first time on Monday.  She put her shades on and she was ready to go!
She kicked off her flip flops and made herself comfortable.  Kate chose watermelon tooth paste for her top teeth, then decided she wanted to switch to chocolate chip cookie flavored paste for her bottom teeth and then finished out the treatment by choosing bubble gum for her fluoride (ugghh). As our sweet hygienist said, its like a party in your mouth.
The best part of going to the dentist - prizes!  Top drawer - stickers.  2nd drawer - tooth brush.  3rd drawer - floss and tooth paste.  4th drawer - toys!
Thanks Dr. Bob!  Both girls checked out nicely without any cavities - yeah!

Trip to the Lake 2012

The annual Spicer/Weatherwax lake weekend took place this past weekend.  This has become one of my favorite weekends of the summer.  We appreciated Jim and Laura's hospitality in their beautiful new home.  The weather was amazing and the kids loved playing together.  The Feasel's joined us out on the Lake and we enjoyed a 60+mph ride on their Deep Impact boat.
Classmates, roommates, bridal parties, and motherhood - we've been through it all together.
Rachel and Kate - the 3 year old Queens!
Emma and Luke - the cool 4 year olds!
Another first for Sage - Driving a boat!  Thanks Jim!
The whole gang.  It's always sad to leave, but when Emma gave Luke a hug her bottom lip started to quiver - it was so touching to see how their friendships have grown, just like ours.

The Nichols' Visit Cbus

Last week, Kim and the kids came up for an overnight.  We played baseball, went to basketball, and went to the pool.  The kids have a great time together. I think it was 11:30pm before they finally stopped talking and laughing and settled down and went to bed.  The following day we went to the zoo.  James is starting 1st grade next week, and Hailey will be in preschool starting in September.  Aunt Becca bought the girls their outfits and they looked so cute (so cute I put the dresses on for their pictures - see below!).

Kids pictures and Emma saves the day!

We had the kids pictures taken yesterday.  "Sage's 9 mos" and "Kate's 3 year" pics - only a month or two late...   Trying to coordinate 3 kids for pictures is quite interesting.  Emma's perfect - just stands there and smiles on cue.  Kate makes funny faces, struts around and dances (even though she knows better), and there's Sage and he just wants to move around and explore.  All things considered, we got some good ones.
Sage has started to clap in the past few weeks and bounce to music.  Our favorite nicknames for him are:  Sagie Boo and Sagers.

In the girls room there we have a darling sign that says "Sisters are for sharing secrets." I'm so glad that they have each other.  They play nicely together, but if they have an argument their threat is "You're not coming to my birthday party" - it's so funny.
 Our big boy!
Miss Emma.  She is growing up so fast.  On Monday, it was a typical day in our household.  Three different kids with three different needs and I just do the best I can.  I put Kate down for a nap.  Sage starts to get tired and hungry.  Kate comes back down and she has had an accident.  I got her cleaned up, put her back down for a nap.  I feed Sage and I put him down as well.  When I walked back downstairs, my sweet Emma had cleaned up all the toys in the living room, cleaned off the kitchen table and the island.  Emma said "Momma, you clean up all the time, I thought you could use a break."  My heart melted and I just cried.  I told her, its hard being a Mommy some days, but I was so proud of her.  That was definitely a proud Mommy moment.

Visit from the Tooth Fairy

Last week when I picked up Emma she told me she had a loose tooth.  I was like, OK as she has said this to me before (the girls are big fans of The Berenstain Bears go to the Dentist) - but low and behold it was loose!  How could my 4 year old have a loose tooth already?!?!  She apparently bonked it on a wood block at school.  For the next week, she wiggled it with her tongue.  Last night, I was going to pull it out just like my Dad did for me, but I just couldn't - it freaked me out.
Emma lost her tooth today at school!  The teachers emailed me this picture when it happened -technology is a beautiful thing.
Emma placed her tooth in her tooth pillow
And placed it under her pillow.  She was excited...
And the Tooth Fairy came for a visit and left Emma $5 and a certificate, as well as a tissue for Mom who can barely believe her little girl has lost her first tooth!

Future Olympian - 2028?

We really enjoyed watching the Olympics this year.  We enjoyed watching swimming, gymnastics, soccer and volleyball.  Emma would look at a box of Rice Krispies or a can of Sprite and see the Olympic rings, she would say "This item is sponsored by the USA and the Olympics."

Kate on the diving board!

After we got home from Hilton Head, the girls started taking swim lessons with Caitlin, one of the guards at our pool.  They have become more comfortable in the water with each class.  Kate's attention span keeps her in tune for a few minutes and then all she wants to do is jump off the side (or go to the potty).  At the conclusion of their lesson last week, they got to jump off the diving board.  Go Kate!

Tell us what you think Sage!

My little guy was chatting with me as I folded laundry last week

Happy Birthday Great Grandpa

We celebrated Grandpa's 88th birthday tonight at our favorite local spot, Montgomery Inn. It's always fun to get out and spend time with the family.   The Weatherwax men - looking good at every age!
Grandpa was born in 1924.  The average cost of a house that year was $8,158.  The average cost of a car was $375 and the average wage was $1,102.  So, $1 in 1924 is equivalent to $12.80 in 2012.  Thank you Google.com for the fun facts!
