Christmas Morning 2010

Christmas was amazing this year. The girls were so excited for Santa to come! Sure enough on Christmas morning, John and I were up by 7:00am, but the girls slept in until 8:30 - I couldn't wait for them to wake up. Watching them walk down the stairs and hearing Emma scream "Look at all the presents Santa brought" were two highlights.

My favorite pic of Kate. And yes, she's finishing Santa's cookie!

Here's the doggy that they asked for! :)

Stocking stuffers!

Christmas 2010

The Weatherwax Family

A very special gift was given to Emma and Kate. They received 3 voice recorded books. Great Grandma and Grandpa Weatherwax read "Frosty the Snowman." Great Grandma Crider/GG read "The Very First Christmas." And Grandma and Grandpa Weatherwax read "Thank you, God, for Everything." The girls are truly blessed to have 3 great grandparents that are able to help celebrate the holiday.

"This is my manger"

Grandma and Grandpa Weatherwax got the girls a darling nativity set. We have enjoyed playing with it and talking about the true meaning of Christmas. Just thought I'd share this cute video with you.

Breakfast with Santa

We headed to a local golf club this morning for breakfast with Santa. When Santa first walked into the room, Emma was terrified. She jumped out of her chair and onto my lap. After some bribing (Emma has a weakness for fruit snacks), we headed in to see Santa. Kate yelled out her classic "Hello" and waved.
The Warm-up
Emma: " Santa, where is Rudolph?"
Santa: "He is at the zoo visiting his cousins."
Emma: "I like the zoo. Where is your sleigh?"
Santa: "Outside waiting to take me back to the North Pole.
What would you like for Christmas?"
Emma: "A Dora DVD and 2 doggies."
(not sure where that came from!)

No tears! "I sat on Santa's lap Mommy!"

Tis the season...

It's the most wonderful time of the year...Yes it is!! As the kids get older, the holidays get better and better. Emma has really embraced the holiday spirit. We have been listening to Christmas carols since the beginning of November. The girls' favorite songs include Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Little Drummer Boy, Frosty the Snowman and All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth. Kate says "Ho Ho Ho" when we talk about Santa, and I'm very anxious to see Emma's reaction with Santa this year.

We have started a couple new traditions at our house. First, is our Elf named "Starburst" who came to visit after Thanksgiving. He keeps an eye on the girls and reports back to Santa Claus. Each morning the girls look around the house to find out where he's hiding. Secondly, Aunt Kim wrapped up 25+ Christmas books so that the girls have a holiday book to read every night before bed for the whole month of December.

I do have to share one of my favorite stories of the holiday season to date. We were driving to school last week and we saw about 8 deer hanging out in a few of our neighbors yards. After we turned off our street Emma states "Hey Momma, I didn't see the one with the red nose...I'll look better next time." I turned on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and smiled, how cute is that?

This year the Zinser's combined Thanksgiving and Christmas to form Thanksmas!

Thanksgiving 2010

For Thanksgiving, we headed to Uncle John and Aunt Donna's house in Nashville, TN. We had a great visit with the family and enjoyed "Black Friday" shopping in downtown Franklin. I had to include this picture of homemade rolls. They are so delicious!
